I am trying to replace the weatherstrip on my wooden casement windows. They were installed in 1988 and I do not know the manufacturer or installer. The windows have a kerf cut that has 1/16" width and a depth of 3/16". Swisco's 58-163 appears to be a good replacement. The picture of the strip looks like a different product than the drawing. Which is correct? Will the base of the strip compress enough to fit in the cut on my windows? Also, what is the depth of the strip? Based on the drawing it would exceed .244". Do you sell samples (3 or 4 foot strips)? Last comment. Great site and your Q&As are very helpful.

The product picture is exactly what you will receive. The drawing is the specifications of the strip that the 58-163 replaces (it does look slightly different, but the measurements are the same). I took two pictures for you. The first picture shows me compressing the strip and holding it up to a tape measure. The second picture I held the strip vertically along a tape measure so you can see how long the strip depth measures.
