I have actually used the 26-387 lock at home in my bathroom window. I also had a little trouble with the 5/8" gap because of the wood trim on the sides of the window. What I did was cut down the side of the bracket to compensate for the size. I believe I used a set of Wiss cutters, but using a file could also do the trick to make up the 1/8" you need. You could also notch the side trim, but I found cutting the bracket quicker. What do you think?
