3" x 1" Spring Latch for a Circa 1975ish installed Horizontal sliding glass window

Is there supposed to be a second spring? Anybody have instructions on how to install? Do I need a new part (I know I need new windows but until then...)

I believe you have an older International Windows series 1400 sliding window. I also believe your handle is no longer made. I did check around, and no one seems to carry this lock anymore. However, reading your post, is the spring the only part broken? We do carry a 91-112 leaf spring that could fit your lock. Take a look and see what you think.
