33" SERIES 385 CHANNEL BALANCE with option

A quick learner from California says:
Hello,

What's the difference in terms of the parts for the Options (sash weight range) of a channel balance? Does a heavier sash has a different Spring or do you just tighten the String so that you get more tension from the Spring?

Thanks
Hong

Tom from SWISCO responded:
Hi, Hong. You're correct: The "stamp options" of a channel balance differ only based on the weight of the sash. A heavier sash needs a higher stamp option; however, channel balances cannot be tightened. Do you need to know anything else about channel balances?

Thanks for your response.
My window sash weight ~ 21 lbs. So I should get 3230 option. However if I decided to pay the extra and get option 3260, will this help in lifting the window easier?
With the same hardware, how did you get the window channel balance to support heavier window sash? Does it rely on a tighter rope on the pulley system to get more tension from the Spring that eventually support heavier sash?

Tom from SWISCO responded:
For an S385-33, a 21 pound window sash requires a 3230 option. We do not recommend purchasing a higher or heavier stamp option than the one suggested for your sash weight. If the stamp option is too low, the window will fall or slide downward instead of staying up. Similarly, if the stamp option is too high, the window may rise upward, or it may become hard to lower. Choose the stamp option that corresponds to your sash weight of 21 pounds, which would be 3230.

Great. Thanks for the suggestion.
