39-346 wont fit in my opening

A home owner from USA says:
Hello, I purchased 39-346 for my Jalousie window crank replacement. The hinge part (where bar connects to crank) won't fit through the opening so I can't install it. Tried to fit it through the opening first and then apply retainer clip but too hard to get it on that way. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'm not sure what the problem could be. Do you have your old operator handy? If so, I'd like to see a picture of it. Perhaps we can find a better match.

I am guessing I need the one that doesn't have multiple arm options so it is riveted together at the joint but I already bought the ones I have and would like to make them work. Here are some pictures of old one with the circle showing the problem area.

Thank you! I understand now. So just to clarify, the other dimensions of the 39-346 all matched up, correct? If so, you could always file the connecting rivet on down a little. I'm just not sure how much you'd have to file it down before you get the clearance you need, though. There is a point where you can file it too much, so you have to be careful.

Thanks. Yes, other dimensions all match up. That's a good idea to file it down. Yes, concerned that I would file it down too much. Are they returnable and if so, is it worth the shipping cost?

I'm afraid the operator cannot be refunded if it has been altered like what we're talking about. One thing you could try first, just in case, is filing the opening itself a little. That may let you squeak by without touching the operator.
