82-035 has 3 thumb-latch locations: How does it work?

A home owner from california says:
The text says "Upon installation, the thumb-latch can be set in one of three different locations" How does that work? Is the handle plate pre-drilled and you select one of the pre-drilled locations?

Thanks for posting.

I took another picture of the 82-035 Patio Door Handle Set, you can see it below:

You'll notice there are three (3) pre-cut slots in the back of the handle that will allow the thumb-latch to secure itself against the handle.

Let me know if you have any other questions or if you'd like to see any other angles.
