Aluminum Window Balance

A home owner from Palmyra, NJ says:
1/2 " width. Aluminum shaft measures 25 3/16". Overall length unknown - top piece broken off. Markings: B.S.I. stamped over # 2520.

It's hard to tell what you have without seeing a top attachment. Do you have an undamaged balance for reference, perhaps from the opposite side of this window or from an identical window elsewhere in the house? Can you also confirm the length of the metal channel? With a stamp like 2520 it should be 26" long. Thanks!

Thank you. I've narrowed this down to two possible channel balance Series: either our Series 351 or our Series 390.

Now, as you can see, the only difference between these two Series is their bottom shoe. The Series 351 uses the 15-002 while the Series 390 uses the 15-001. I can't quite tell what you have based on your pictures, though. Please carefully compare their dimensions to your own hardware and see which is a better match.

I measured the bottom shoe and the measurements are the same as the 15-002 shoe.

Great, then, I'd say our Series 351 is a great place to start. Based on your information, I'd recommend an S351-26 with a stamp of 2520.
