Awning Window Crank

A home owner from Gulfport, Florida says:
Dear Sir or Ms.,

I have looked at all your window cranks and compared measurements to mine and the Stanley Operator Right Handed, Product Code 39-058 looks the same as mine and has all the correct measurements except for one: the offset arm extension is 2 3/8" on the Stanley while mine is 2 3/16". Will it work even though the Stanley is 3/16" longer than mine? None of your other cranks measure up as well. I am about to order 6 of them.

Best regards,

Ed

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:
If the only difference is the length of the offset arm, then you should be okay. There is usually a certain amount of travel on the gear linkage for this type operator that lets you get away with a different size arm. If you want, though, you can send us some photos of your operator with dimensions and we can give you some suggestions.
A home owner from Gulfport, FL says:
Thanks, Dave,

This prior weekend I took a look at all the others of the same style and discovered that one was 3" long and worked just fine, so I came to the same conclusion. Hopefully, with all other factors the same as the original there will be no hidden bugaboo. An important note for other readers: the housing of the 3" long one is wider, perhaps to accommodate the length. I expect the reason the width is not included in the measurements is because it makes no difference, hence the length makes no difference. This is just my guess.
