Balance retainer clips for sigle window

A home owner from Howell NJ says:
I have a couple of windows where the plastic balance retainer clips have broken off the top of the window and it appears as if this clip is what holds the window channel balance from in place because mine are all the way to the top of the window frame and the window will not stay up.I uploaded 2 photos to you to show how a broken one and unbroken one looks. Can you help me with what parts I need to fix this problem.
Thank you,
James

Hard to say what the take out clip is without seeing it removed, but I believe it is something like our 18-069. Take a look and compare it to your own.

To remove the sash despite the sprung balances, you need to force the balance down until you clear the take out clip (it should look like our 16-002). Pop it out on both sides then raise the sash to disconnect it and the balances.
