SWISCO - The Replacement Hardware Authority

Channel Balance # & Tie Bar Guide

A home owner from La Verne, CA says:
Existing Ribbed Channel Balance is stamped "M 27LT" Most all the springs have broken. Perhaps I should try a heavier spring so as not to break again? Wood frame double hung window 30" x 22.5" each leaf, no more than 20lbs each...

LT for Light?

Actual overall length of the channel balance is 28" so I should ordered a 28" ribbed channel balance?

What is the difference in a CHANNEL BALANCE SHOE and a TIE BAR GUIDE?

Do you think a 15-109 is the correct replacement compared to the pictures? The 15-109 dimensions are almost exact except it's 1 3/8" long, not 1 3/16".

Hello! I agree, the 15-109 looks like a good match (which is more like a shoe than a tie bar guide. you can ignore the nomenclature for now). The height isn't critical, honestly; what's more important is the width and thickness. Make sure those are the same. As for your Series 750 balance, I recommend the 27HD stamp.
