Channel Balance w/o takeout clip

A quick learner from California says:
My windows don't have the takeout clip. How does one remove the window when one side is broken?

You could always buy new take out clips to replace the ones that are missing. Many channel balances use our 16-002. If that's not what you had originally, or if you need a quick solution, you can always install a screw as a temporary measure. The balance will catch the screw in the same way it does the take out clip, allowing you to remove the sash and balances. When you're finished with your repairs, you can simply remove the screw so that the window can function normally.
