Damaged channel where tilt spiral balance should be screwed.

A quick learner from NJ says:
As you can see, the channel that the tilt spiral balance should be installed is damaged (in original installation 22 years ago - not me). If I insert a balance screw plug, it would pop out the top. Would you suggest an expanding foam filler above to anchor it in place? I could lower the screw hole on each side, but would I need to buy shorter spiral tilt balances? Any thoughts? - thanks for your time!

In this situation, I would cut a small piece of aluminum to cover the hole, then drill a hole in the new aluminum piece approximately where it was originally in the frame. From there you would just need to use a longer screw.
