Do I remove screw and lift up the aluminum extrusion that holds the top of the glass in place?

A handy person from Rye, NY says:
I think part #26-014 is correct for my window but I would like to remove one to check dimensions, the diagram does not explain how to do this. Do I remove screw and lift up the aluminum extrusion that holds the top of the glass in place? Just removing the screw does not allow the broken latch to slide out. Thanks for your help.

Yes. First remove the window sash, then unscrew and remove the top rail of the sash.
Pop off the sash release lever and the internal slide latch, spring and retainer will slip out.
