Does the 40-039 fit directly in the door jam?

A home owner from Az. says:
Does the 7/16 locking portion of the lock fit directly into the door jam? Both the door and door frame are made of aluminum, so there is no room for an error. The door is one inch and the door frame is two and half inches in width. I assume the door frame will have to be cut out in order to allow for the 7/16 latch to fit-is this correct? The door swings out.

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:
Yes, you could cut into the door jamb to install the 7/16" through bolt. However it also comes with a surface mounted keeper; that way you won't have to cut into the door jamb.
