Fenestra casement window screen issues

A home owner from Akron ohio says:
I have a question about the screens for these old Fenestra casement windows. No one, so far, in my town can help me. I want to replace the screen but every time the frame is snapped back in place, the screen is cut (tried three times so far. The last time was with the screen very loose). I am using aluminum screen, but was told by a professional (37 years in the business) that the original copper screen material would cut also, and that could get very expensive.
what is the secret?

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:
My dad actually had me work on this type of screen when I was younger to make some spending money. From what I remember, these screens had a metal screen spline. When we replaced the screening, we used a type of foam spline like our 58-250. This might be better and easier to replace the screen wire without also cutting the fabric. See what your local professional says.
