Flush lever pins break

A quick learner from USA says:
I have two of the flush levers for my front door one top and one bottom. Both pins have broken off in the exact same place. I have had them for about 4 years and I normally do not operate them. Is this a defect or is this wear and tear?

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:
It's possible that they froze up from lack of use. I recommend lubricating them from time to time. Meanwhile, see our 42-006 flush bolt to see if their dimensions match up to yours. I can't be sure it's an exact match, but it looks like the closest possibility we have.
