Handle won't click in.

A home owner from NJ says:
The mechanism works fine but the handle just slides in and out of the mechanism and doesn't stay snapped in. There looks to be something missing that would go between the 2 parts like a ball or a spring to hold the handle in. Ideas?

This is known to happen with older style operators like this. That black plastic collar wears out and the hex handle will not stay in. What I've done in the past was to put a small piece of tape on the handle end. Sometimes that will keep it in. In worst case scenario would be to use a type of adhesive to keep the handle in place. If you need to replace the operator as a whole I believe the newer setup would be our 39-393 along with 39-205.
