How do you remove the corner tilt latch without breaking it?

A handy person from elizabethtown says:
I have a surface corner snap in window tilt latch,any trick to remove one without breaking it.I need one off to see what I need to order?

Good Afternoon Wendell,

To remove and install a new #26-295 top tilt latch, you need to remove sash from window. Here is a guide with photos explaining how to remove the sash from the window.

With the sash removed from the window, unscrew the two top screws on the window sash and carefully raise the top rail to slide off the top tilt latches. On some window models the company has glued the glass to the frame. If that is the case, you will have to remove the glass first then you can raise the top rail. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves - you could possibly break the glass during this procedure.
