Identifying window type

A home owner from Hawaii says:
I have many windows and they are of the channel balance type and with your help I've repaired them. But this one is different and I'm not sure how to remove window and replace broken part. There is no clip to pop out The window slides up but won't stay up. Please help!!

This is a tilt window. See the video below; I'm not sure if the balances shown match what you have, but the method of removing the sash should be the same.

I've removed the window and found the differences between the broken one and the working window. First 2 pix are of broken one, last 2 of working one. How do I fix what appears to be a snapped copper srip which is now wound up like a spool? Thanks
