Thanks for posting. You're right, the color tips for spiral balances determine its weight range, and its based on two balances per sash.
I see you have recently purchased an S600-24. In your specific case, a 24" Series 600 Balance with red tip will carry a window sash weight range of 7 through and including 29 pounds. Remember, this is based on two balances per sash. Balances are designed assuming friction in the jamb weather-strip will carry a portion of the sash weight. Suggested sash weights are approximate. Unfortunately, we don't have a specific list for customers to view. There are many different types of spiral balances, all of varying lengths that can fit on varying weights for balances, such a chart would be hard to work out. The easiest way to determine the best color tip for your balance would be to refer to our Guide on Choosing the Best Spiral Balance Tip Color. |

You would need a black tip, which would have to be custom made. A black-tip Series 600 23" spiral balance can support a sash range of approximately 31 through 40 lbs.
This information is based on 2 balances per sash. Balances are designed assuming friction in the jamb weather-strip will carry a portion of the sash weight. Suggested sash weights are approximate.
