Need help determining tip color

A handy person from St. Johns FL says:
I am replacing the spiral balances in some old non-tilt windows from 2002. The existing spiral balances are 3/8" diam, 30" length, with what appear to be a brown colored tip.

Since I cannot weight the window, and based on their size, I am thinking I should go with the green tip to be safe?

Appreciate the help.

Thanks,
Rob

Tom from SWISCO responded:
I think your tip was once red, but lost its color over time. They don't make a brown tip so red is the only color that could fade to what you have. Green tip could also work, but you run the risk of it being too strong. Then again, there's also the risk that red would be too weak. Knowing the weight of your sash is the only way to be 100% sure.
