Old Alcoa window springs have broken

A quick learner from Bean Station, Tn says:
My parents have 1973 Alcoa Windows, sashes are good, but the springs are broke.. Do the Windows have to be replaced or is there a sash replacement.. Please help

If the springs are all that broke, then you just need to replace those. No need for a new sash or window. If you can, take a couple pictures of the spring mechanism itself to get started. These are known in the industry as "window balances." Once we have an idea of what kind of window balance you have, we can work from there. Keep in mind we may require more information and pictures, but let's start with these first images so that we know what to ask for.
