Papaiz 323 - handles are "floppy" - missing an o-ring

A home owner from Connecticut says:
The door handles of this Papaiz 323 are "floppy" - one of the plastic o-rings is missing on the outer handle. So while the door is operable (opens and closes using handles), the handles are "loose".

Wondering if a new plastic o-ring would "tighten" the handles? or is something else wrong?

Hate to replace the entire locking mechanism if its something simple

I'm not sure if replacing the O-ring will fix your issue. It's definitely worth a shot, if you can find one at a local hardware store, but the issue may be the spring in the mortise lock. This is often the culprit when it comes to floppy handles. Unfortunately, the only solution for that is to replace the hardware you have now entirely.
