SWISCO - The Replacement Hardware Authority

Part Identifaction Help

A home owner from Circleville says:
Hi there. I need to buy a left and right coil balance for a viny window. It looks like the one in the link below (matches shoe measurement) except my coil balances have two springs and I can't find that on your site. I have a double plug detente clip (almost like at http://www.swisco.com/coil-balance-double-support/pd/Sash-Support-Coil-Balance-Accessories/15-181 but I have a top tab) and the two round ends would have two small round bushings (see http://www.swisco.com/coil-balance-double-support/pd/Sash-Support-Coil-Balance-Accessories/15-181 ) in them. Through these hollow bearings go the two screws to attach the coil, one screw per coil. The spring has a stamp of 4 on it. Again the bottom pivot or shoe is 9/16 x 1-1/4". What do I buy? The ones at the link below look to be single coils. I have double. I do not want to buy the coil springs. I want a shaboodle replacement that I pop in the railings, screw in, and put the detente cover on. http://www.swisco.com/4-lb-single/pd/Series-140-Quick-Tilt-Balance/S140-4

Could you show me a picture of your balance system? That will allow us to tell right away what you have and what can work. Please make sure we can clearly see the coil springs and the shoe that they attach to. Keep in mind that depending on what you have, there may not be a complete, all-in-one kit, but that also means you don't need to replace the whole thing. The best part of these balances is that you only need to replace what's broken, and simply reuse the rest.

The window in question I found out is a Silverline. I attach a picture of the coil. Does this help to ID the part/

Perfect, thanks! That's a huge help, actually. See our 15-180 pivot shoe and Series 190 coil spring. I think you'll find these match your hardware quite well.
A quick learner from Circleville NY says:
I understand series 190, thank you, but when I look at it, there are a series of numbers such as 440, 540, 640, 740, 832, and 840. Which one do I choose. My coil had a stamp of four which I have to think = four lbs. How could I know which of those numbers to click on/choose? Thank you.

Tom from SWISCO responded:
If your old balance was marked 4, then the S190-440 might be the way to go. Each individual S190-440 spring can carry 4 pounds each, so if you have 4 altogether in your window then it can carry a 16 pound sash. If your sash is around that range, you should be good to go.
