Pella lock doesn't work

A quick learner from Bethlehem, PA says:
I purchased a replacement lock from you. When I installed it the locking latch would not fully retract when I turned the lever. Therefore once the door is closed it would not be possible to open it since the locking piece will not free itself from the door frame mortice.

I did contact customer care and the representative asked that I send photos of the new and old lock.
Attached are a number of photos comparing the new and old locks. There are 2 photos with one showing the locking mechanism fully extended and the other showing it in the retracted position but still extending about

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:
It sounds like you are saying that when you turn the lever handle, the lock bolt does not retract into the lock body. When you installed the new lock and handle into the door, did you make sure the set screws in the handle were secured? It could be that the handle is slipping. Check that out and let us know!
