Pella screen door latch

A home owner from Ohio says:
Latch is not broken, but does not latch as if it is missing a spring to hold it in place. I have taken it apart, put it back together but still no way to lock or hold in proper position. The latch looks like your 83-115. So is there a spring or something to put pressure on the latch to hold in place? If not can the whole assy be replaced? I don't think replacing the latch will fix the issue unless it's a wear issue with the latch itself. Need some advice. Thanks.

The 83-115 does not use a spring, but rather works on pressure. When taking your handle apart check to make sure the parts are not bent or worn. Also see if you can adjust the keeper in the door jamb.
