Pella screen door latching device

A quick learner from Scottsdale, Arizona says:
Our Pella screen door, installed in 2004, that slides to the left to allow exit/entry from back patio has a latching mechanism that is screwed in a groove at the top left of the door. When released, the screen door quickly moves to the right and slams shut and needs no encouraging push.

This latching mechanism is plastic and appears to have split, therefore not allowing the screw to be tightened anymore.

So the situation is now to keep the screen in an "open" position or "closed" position but nothing in between.

We would like to order a new part or somehow remedy the problem with a different part that will enable us to open/close the screen without any issues.

Please help!

Could you have something like our 80-054 Pella screen door trolley? See if that's a match. They only sell it as a complete kit, the individual components are not available separately.
A quick learner from AZ says:
No, wrong part. As we were taking it apart to take a pic to send you, the small plastic holding device with its set screw came out and fell on the floor. What we discovered is that the wood screw was bent and the screw hole was greatly enlarged so the screw doesn't stay in place. So we are going to get a little larger wood screw and fill the hole in the wood a bit so it will torque it down. We will see if that works! Thanks so much for your reply...we would not tried to take it apart if not for your response!

Oh, great! I love how accidents like that can lead to a solution. Let us know how it works out.
