Replacement Balances

A quick learner from Franklin, Indiana says:
Hello,
I have a broken spring balancer. The stamp reads 26 4 IR Caldwell. I believe that it's an Alpine window. When I look on alpinewindowsystems.net the code correlates to a sash weighing 19-25 pounds.
I ordered 2ea 27" series S385-27 (2640) from you and they arrived. I tried to install them, but it is obviously to much tension. The size is correct, but the spring is WAY to strong. Regretfully I have damaged the new ones, and can not return.

Please advise me as to which balances I need to order so I can get my window squared away

Thanks so Much
Paul

Huh, that's odd. Your old stamp of "26 4" usually corresponds to our 2640 option. I'm surprised it was too strong. Can you give me the weight of your sash?
A quick learner from Franklin, In says:
Exactly 19 pounds

That's really odd, the 2640 definitely shouldn't be too strong. I suppose you could go down to the 2630, which is on the low side, carrying sashes weighing 13 through 19 pounds. That said, if the 2640 didn't work, there's no saying for sure if the 2630 could, either.
