Side mounting brackets for bifold door

A contractor from ohio says:
a home owner is doing some remodeling and rather than purchase new bi-fold doors she would like to reuse the benchmark steel doors. she has laid new flooring and would like to not use a bottom track but perhaps a side mounting bracket that the pivot can function in with no bottom guide. Can you tell me if that is possible and if so what the model # is for the mounting brackets?

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:
I have done it, but I do not advise it. What I have done was to cut the end of the bottom track length just enough to hold the door pivot. You will then have to remove the bottom guide pin off the door and possible install a door aligner like the 23-139. Take note that you could have a problem with door sagging with out the bottom track and spring loaded guide pin.
A contractor from ohio says:
The doors don't seem to be that heavy. Is sagging a real concern? The majority of bi fold doors I have hung, including cheap hollow core to heavy solid wood doors, the hardware has held up, especially the hinges.

It is your call. I am just giving you a heads up. Try it - what do you have to loose? You would have to buy a new door anyways. At least give it a try.
