Spiral Tilt Window Balance

A quick learner from St. Marys, Iowa says:
My windows have spiral balances with blue tips and when I was cleaning them I noticed that one balance has grease on it and the other side does not. Do these things have to be lubricated? If so, how do you do it? Also several of my windows have broken pivot bars on one side and the spirals are very hard to move up or down. Is this why so many of the bars are broken?

This kind of balance typically comes pre-lubricated. As long as they're working fine, you should be okay, but if you think they could use some lubrication to make opening and closing the window easier, I would recommend applying white grease to the spiral itself.

As for the pivot bar, it would depend on your dimensions. Start with our 26-226 to see if this is a match.
