SWISCO - The Replacement Hardware Authority

Looking for Spiral balance with Unique clip

A professional from Texas says:
I have spiral balances. They are nearly falling apart.
What do I need from Swisco to make this window work?

And how do I install this window? I had to really work it to get the old ones out, but I don't want to get as rough with the new ones.

Thanks for posting! I just spoke to my good friend Tim who told me that your sash weighs 12 pounds, and that the tube length and diameter is 29" and 3/8", respectively. That's just about the last bit of information we need to custom make this balance for you. Can you just tell me how many you need?

Once we have that, I'll shoot you over a custom balance form that you can use to place your order. We'll also discuss the best method of installation.

A home owner from Magnolia,Texas says:
Hi Tom,I have the same problem as the above. My home is 16 years hold and my window balances are starting to fail. I have approx 5 windows with the spiral balances that have already failed and are hanging down in the channel of the window.I tried to re-charge them, but it didnt work. I have identified most of the balances but on 4 of the balances the color is clear, What type do I need to replace those 4 ?

All of the balances are 3/8 in diameter and 29 inches long. they also have the 15-073 shoe.

do you carry such balance?

Thanks

Mike

We should definitely be able to help. Can you tell me how heavy the two sashes are? That should clarify exactly how strong the springs need to be.
A home owner says:
I don't have a spring scale to measure the weight of the sash I will try to get one. Attached are some pics of the balances.

Looks like you have a red tip on one, which indicates it can carry a sash weight of 10 through 22 pounds. If the other window is identical, it may be safe to assume that they would need a red tip option as well. I will email you a custom order link for four of these. You may still want to weigh your sash just in case, we always feel it's better to be safe than sorry. Let me know if you need to change anything on the link.
