Spiral balance length

A handy person from Ottowa, CA says:
Hi, I will be installing your spiral balances on some new wooden double hung windows(non-tilt) If my sash is 32" in length what length tube would suit best?

Paul from SWISCO responded:
I can't be sure based on the total height of the sash. It is better to go by the height of the visible glass. For reference, I always add 1" to the height of the visible glass for the top sash. For the bottom sash, I add 3", instead.
