TRACO window tilt latch

A home owner from Chicago says:
I need to find a replacement part for a broken tilt latch for a TRACO window.
The windows date back to approx 1981. The only identifier I can see on the window is TRA-5-81.
See photos attached. The first two are of the broken window and the others are of a functioning window.

Thank you,
Amanda

Looking at your pictures, I would recommend our 26-002 sash release lever as well as our 26-069 tilt latch, 26-016 spring, and 26-017 retainer.

To replace the broken top tilt latch, remove the sash from window and unscrew the top rail. Lay the sash on a table and use a block of wood and hammer to carefully knock off the top rail. Now you can remove the latch with the spring and retainer. You can reuse the spring and retainer if they're not broken and just replace the broken sash release and tilt latch, if possible.
A quick learner from Chicago says:
I have this exact same window and same problem. This was very helpful. Thank you!

Do you by any chance know what balancer works with this window. I need to replace them on at least two windows.

Well, Traco has been known to use the Series 600 spiral balance, which has a 5/8" diameter tube. But I'm not sure if that's what you have. Give it a look and see how well it matches up!
