The 39-002 handle will not freely turn

A landlord from California says:
Recently ordered the 39-001/2 casement window crank assembly. Upon installation of the crank handle we discovered that it would not freely turn in a full circle because the set-screw tang on the crank handle is striking the beveled top edge of the crank-gear housing.

It appears that either the end of the set-screw tang on the crank handle needs to be beveled or the beveled edge around the top of the crank-gear housing needs to be machined at the same angle as the face of the boss around the end of the crank-gear drive shaft.

Good Morning,

We have not had any past complaints with the 39-001 and 39-002 style operator so I would to make sure you are installing the crank handle correctly on the window operator. I made a quick video that will show you how the handle should be installed.
  1. Unscrew the set screw in the handle so that the handle can fully fit over the operator shaft
  2. Fit the handle over the operator shaft until the base of handle meets the operator
  3. Tighten the set screw
