Track Cover 80-102 Installation

A home owner from Indiana says:
What are your views on using Silicone to install Track Covers 80-102 as is shown on some other sites? Will the Track Cover 80-102 not stay in place without Silicone? If Track Cover 80-102 has to be replaced again in future, will the Silicone make removal of old Track Cover difficult?
A home owner from Indiana says:
Also should the Track Cover be cut to exact length or for a slight gap on ends to allow for expansion? If gap how much gap?

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:
I do know of some contractors who use silicone or epoxy to install track covers like the 80-102. What I personally do is cut it the same length as the existing track, leaving a little space at both ends for drainage. To secure the cover to the old track I would drill and install two small sheet metal screws like the 33-071 one at each end of the track. I find that the "weight" of the door keeps the center of the track down on the sill and the screws at each end keeps the ends secured.
