Trouble replacing window sash

A home owner from Florida says:
I ordered replacement channel balances - 19", series 377, 1840 - but have two questions:
1) Is it OK that the replacement is 1/2" longer? Exactly the same otherwise, including the number stamp.

2) How do I get the tabs on the side of both the top and foot pieces in the channel slot for them? On the window, one side of the channel has a slot in which the tabs must go for the balance to fit square in the channel.

Thanks for any help!

Sure, it's my pleasure! An extra 1/2" in length shouldn't interfere with the window operation. As for your second question, there's a bit of a procedure you have to follow. With the window sash removed, locate the cut outs in the channel where the balance would side in. Then, hook the bottom clip in the middle of the window track. Pull down the balance to lock it under the take out clip, which should resemble our 16-023. Repeat the procedure for the other side. Finally, when both balances are in the locking position, reinstall the sash.
