Velux operator keeps spinning

A handy person from PHILADELPHIA says:
I a Velux skylight with manual opener. The lock does not stop and lock down now, it keeps spinning while I try to lock with the extension pole. Could you tell me how to fix and which parts I need?
Looks like best I can read the model # is V5308 5087 AA?1A. I can't make out the one digit

Tom from SWISCO responded:
It sounds like the gears in the operator could be stripped out. If I understand correctly, when you turn the handle, the window does not open or close, correct? If so, you will need a new operator.
A quick learner from Philadelphia says:
It opens and closes but when I close it doesn't tighten down, keeps spinning.
Are new operators difficult to install?

Tom from SWISCO responded:
Velux operators aren't difficult to install, I don't believe. They should just screw in and attach to the window track. If it keeps spinning after you close it, then the gears sounds like they're stripped, like I mentioned, or at least getting to that point.
