What color tip for my spiral balance?

A home owner from Pennsylvania says:
Trying to determine what color code spiral balance to order for a window. The window weighs 18.5 lbs. it is 3/8 " in diameter and 29 7/8 " long. The current color is yellow. What color should I order?

Thanks for posting! Before I can recommend a tip color for your spiral balance, I will have to determine its Series. To start, can you please tell me if your window is tilt, or non-tilt? Can you also confirm the length of your balance tube? Our lengths usually don't end on a fraction of an inch. Please make sure that you're only measuring the tube portion of the balance; do not incorporate the tip and spiral protrusion in your measurements.
A home owner from Pennsylvania says:
Thanks for the response. The window is a tilt window. I confirmed the tube length at 29 7/8". I thought that was odd as well but that is what it is.

In that case, I would suggest that you look at our S900-30 spiral balance. This is a 30" Series 900 balance. I would also select the red tip; an S900-30 with a red tip can support a sash weight range of 10 through 22 pounds.

The weight information is based on 2 balances per sash. Balances are designed assuming friction in the jamb weather-strip will carry a portion of the sash weight. Suggested sash weights are approximate
