Window Channel Balance

A home owner from Phoenix, AZ says:
I need to replace my window channel balances. They have a stamp saying 25 9 B.S.I. PD. I cannot find any balances with this exact numbering but from researching, it seems the 350 series, specifically S350-25 option 2420 will make a viable replacement. Would this be a safe assumption?

Thanks

Thanks for posting. Balance stamps do not correspond to Series numbers. All a balance stamp tells us is how strong the spring is. The only way to confirm what Series you have is to match up the nylon attachments with those we show on our site. You were looking at our Series 350 so start there. Are the nylon attachments on either end the same? Do the dimensions match up? How about the style? Don't worry about the color so much, that's not as important.

Based on your stamp, your metal channel should also be 26" long, not 25". You should also weigh your sash to confirm what option to use since "25 9" is not standard. One of our standard options may match but you have to weigh your sash to confirm.
A home owner from Phoenix says:
Thanks for the feedback. I have measured the balance and weighed the sash. From the tip of the top plastic part (I'm assuming that's the nylon you were referring to) the bottom of the shoe attachment is exactly 27", the metal part by itself is just over 25.5". It is 1/2" wide and the sash weighs 24 lbs. Based on this and the information you provided, the S380-27, option 2640 seems to be the best option. My only concern is that the shoe on my balance seems to be longer vertically than the one depicted. I am attaching pictures of both the top and bottom piece to show you what I mean.

Thanks again for the help.

Ah, thank you. No, none of our standard balances will replace this, not even the Series 380. This is a special balance that has to be specially made. Before we can work on that, however, can you show me a picture of the metal clip? It should be at the end of the cord. Can you also tell me the weight of your window sash and how many balances you need? Thank you!
