Window does not stay up when opened

Whenever the windows are open they slam shut. The spring on the right side is broken.

Thanks for posting. Yes, it definitely sounds like a problem with the window balances. However, I will need to see pictures of the balances themselves, preferably removed from the window, before we can offer a replacement. Let me know!

Well, I can see that your tilt latch is broken, though that has no relation to the balance spring. Is this the only problem, or is the tilt latch broken in addition to the balance?

In either event, I would need to see a picture of an undamaged version of this tilt latch, preferably from the other side. I will also still need a clear picture of the balance, since I do not see it in this new photo. Thanks!

Thank you. Your top tilt latch might be our 26-244. Carefully compare it to your own to confirm. You may want to compare an undamaged version, if you have one.

I can't get a good view of your balance system, but it looks like it could be our Series 850 balance. You will need to remove the balance in order to confirm. See our video below for help.

I have been Contacted by the homeowner to fix the windows in this post, your company has been in contact with the homeowner to identify some of the necessary parts Involved in the repair. The following balance was removed from the window. Please advise as to the proper replacement balance.
