Window won't stay open

A quick learner from Minnesota says:
My windows will not open and stay. I want the easiest way to fix. The guides are 28 inches long and 3/8 wide. Look at the pictures. I have 6 windows. The number stamped on the guides is 2740.

Can you help?
Thank you,
Frank

Paul from SWISCO responded:
Hey, Frank. I would double check your measurements. I think the metal channel should be closer to 1/2" wide. If so, see our Series 390 channel balance.
A quick learner from Spring Branch Tx says:
You are correct it must be 5/8.is there anything else I will need to make the repairs?

Paul from SWISCO responded:
Assuming nothing else on the window is broken, you should be okay with just replacing both balances.
A quick learner from Spring Branch Tx says:
390 channel worked. However on some Windows the tops are missing so there is nothing to hold the channel in the window track. There is a hole and screw but no plastic pieces. What parts do I need to fix these?

Paul from SWISCO responded:
That piece is known as a top sash guide. Are they missing on both sides? I won't know what to recommend without seeing an old one. If both are missing, do you have another window in the house that uses the same hardware? We can use that as reference.
A quick learner from Spring branch Tx says:
These plastic pieces we we attached to the side of the window. They are covered with the plastic caps seen in the other photo.
