Wool pile weather stripping double hung tilt window

A home owner from New Jersey says:
Hello,

I'm a new home owner and have noticed that a majority of my vinyl double hung tilt windows are weather stripped with worn out wool pile stripping.

My question is do I have to replace this wool with new wool? Or is it possible to put another sturdier material in the current wool piles place?

Thanks for the replies.

We always recommend sticking with what you have in these situations. Wool pile works great in keeping out cold air, and a sturdier material could cause too much friction when you open and close the sash, preventing it from operating properly.
