breaking pivot bars

A quick learner from USA says:
I keep snapping pivot bars on my windows. I bought four from you guys (26-226 which I am sure are the correct pieces). I am clearly doing something wrong on these and was hoping you could maybe give me some tips.

How exactly are the pivot bars breaking? At what point do they break? One common culprit is when the window is tilted in without being raised a few inches, first. Unless you raise the sash a few inches before tilting it in, the pivot bars will most likely be damaged.
A quick learner from USA says:
They keep breaking right where they extend out of the sash - it's like they are not strong enough?

Hmm... they don't really make a stronger version of the 26-226. I'm not sure if strength is the issue. When you tilt the window in, are you making sure to raise it a few inches first?
