casemnt crank assemblies

A quick learner from Lodi, NJ says:
part # 39-187, and #39-089 have the same dimensions except one is for Casement Vinyl Window, and the other for Casement Window, What is the difference between 2 cranks ? (I have a beige metal window. Can I use either of them?)

No, these two operators are not interchangeable. The difference is subtle, but if you look closely you can see it. The key is in their gear arms, which are two different shapes. The 39-089 is shaped more like a "Z," while the 39-187 is more like a "W." I know that's not the most clear explanation, but it's helped me tell the two apart in the past.
