channel balance 19 5 FR Caldwell

A handy person from kaunakakai, Hawaii says:
The cord broke on one of my balances for the single hung 4 x 4 window in my kitchen. The markings on the balance is... 19 5 FR Caldwell.... The metal channel is 20" long, 5/8" deep and 1/2" wide (approx) It looks like your model S350-20. Can you tell me if this will work...if it will I will order a pair and replace these as they are about 10-12 years old. I was able to restring the broken one, but I don't imagine that will last very long and of course the tension is not even. The window is a vinyl window with two 2 foot by 4 foot windows that weigh about 5 - 8 pounds.
Thank You

Good Morning,

When the string or the nylon attachments break on a channel balance, that is usually a sign that the balance needs to be replaced.

The stamp you provided only tells us the spring length and strength. If you are sure about the attachments of your balance matching up to the attachments of the S350 replacement channel balance purchase S350-20 with the option of 1950.

If you are unsure that you need the S350, please submit a few pictures of both the top and bottom of your channel balance.
