26-148 Trouble With Installation

A home owner from Maryland says:
Am I having a problem installing the 26-148. It appears to me that I must push the metal spring into the assembly prior to installing into the window. My problem comes when I am attempting to depress the latch to fully open the window, it will not remain depressed... opening each time I fully shut the window. Is this the proper install and function of the latch or am I doing it incorrectly?

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:
Yes, you will first have to set the spring on the bottom of the cut out and then swing up the fitting to lock in the top. After it's installed, you use your finger to slide up the "piano key" to let it out to prevent the sash from going up. To close, simply push the key and slide down to lock it.
