Aluminum sash balances

A quick learner from AR says:
Aluminum sash balances that have stripped the lower spring inserts. Springs are 28.5" length 0.5" diameter. Sash weight approximately 7lbs.

Is it possible to replace only the spring portion as the spirals are intact and have a unique attachment.

Any advice on repairs or replacements would be helpful.

Hello! This exact balance model hasn't been made in a long time, unfortunately, but the good news is that you should be able to use our Series 500 as an alternative. You will also need a 17-012 bracket, which is sold separately. This snaps to the bottom of the Series 500 and allows you to attach it to the sash in more or less the same way as your original assembly.

At 28.5", I recommend the S500-29. For a 7 pound sash you can use the Red Tip color option, which holds 7 through 29 pounds. Lastly, note that the diameter of the tube is 9/16". Yours ought to be, too, but it can't hurt to triple check that.
