Anything like this one or a substitute, please?

A home owner from Concord CA USA says:
Hi!

This baby is an ACME 4050 bottom slide for a closet door. Do you good folks this or a good substitute, maybe?

Notice that it fits into that little slot in the frame there.

Thanks SO MUCH for your help!

Hey Paul. Looks like you need a bottom closet guide like our 23-215. Compare with the diagram below to ensure this matches what you're looking for. Let me know what you think!

Hmmm, So how does this mount to the door? By the look of it, those 2 holes there are for screws or something? Oh wait! I think I get it. That curved bit at the top goes into the slot in the frame, right?

Thanks,

Paul

Yes, you're analysis is pretty much dead on. These guides install in one of two ways: either they screw in using those small holes you see, or they hook into the door using those top hooks. In my experience most mirror closet doors like yours use the hooks. I could probably count on one hand how many times I saw these actually held in place with screws.

How do you remove it when it is installed with the clips? The plastic piece has broken off and I need to replace it.

In this case, lay the door down on a stable surface and then use a pair of needle-nose pliers to gradually pull the hooks of the roller out of the door. There's no real trick to this other than some patience and elbow grease. Installing a replacement works the same way, in reverse.
