Harvey casement window failed latches

A home owner from Freeport, Maine says:
Hi. We have a few casement windows (installed during original build in 2004) where the latch no longer full catches, meaning we can not tightly close the window. In our cold weather climate, this means cold air unnecessarily enters the house. Is it possible for a slightly skilled handy layman to repair this, or should I find an expert?

Hey there,

Thanks for posting! Your casement window lock looks similar in style to our 38-036 Rear Mount Casement Lock. To determine if this is the right replacement for your existing lock, carefully review and compare the dimensions below.

There is a chance that the window is not closing due to either the awning operator or the window hinge being damaged. That said, you may want to examine those to determine if the hardware needs to be replaced.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions you might have.
