measure the glass of sliding Patio Door or glass entry door

A professional from Nisshin, Aichi Pref., Japan says:
The doors have wide frame and I cannot measure the glass by #75-051 around door frame. For example, a sliding patio door of Pella has 4-1/2 inch wide frame and #75-051 can be used by only 3 inch frame. Please let me know how to measure the glass of doors. If you have another tool for doors, please let me know. Thanks.

Hello,

There are also Laser caliper measuring gages but, unfortunately, we do not carry them. You would shoot the laser beam into the glass to measure the overall thickness of the unit, the thickness of each lite of glass, the size of the air space if it is Low-E, and what surface it is on. It will come in handy if you do a lot of glasswork.
